Villa Farnia Montepulciano 2018

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC

Declared Italy’s Winery of the Year three times in a row, Farnese is one of the finest in Abruzzo. Montepulciano is the region’s top grape, crafted here by winemaker Filippo Baccalaro. Velvet smooth, soft and plummy, it has few rivals for value too.

Founded by the late Camillo De Iuliis, Farnese is named after the noble family who built some of Rome’s finest palaces. However, it was Abruzzo the family fell in love with, and there, like today's Farnese, they produced some of Europe’s most renowned wines. We’ve worked with Farnese for more than 15 years, since they began in fact, and our close relationship gives access to their best wines. Over the years they’ve won many awards and glowing reviews from Robert Parker, Decanter, Wine Spectator and Gambero Rosso. And Trophies too, notably IWC’s ‘Best Italian Red’. Montepulciano is their speciality. Enjoy this wine’s ripe, dark plum flavours and lovely soft quaffable style. It’s great with all kinds of pasta dishes, pizza or veggie frittata.

"Lush, supple with chocolatey, plum fruit – Italy’s Montepulciano at its juicy, quaffable best" Leo Bassano
