Set in the Maipo Valley, Viña Tarapacá is one of the most beautiful wineries in the world. Not only that, their wines offer gorgeous, ripe flavour and impressive value. Over 160 years old, the cellar was founded by Don Francisco de Rojas. He travelled to France in the 1840s and returned laden with vines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, planting them in the countryside around his classic colonial style house. In 1992 new owners took over the estate and invested considerably in the vineyards and winery. They added a new humidity and temperature controlled cellar for maturing the wines, with a 4,000 barrel capacity. Made purely from Cabernet Sauvignon, star grape of Bordeaux’s Médoc, this supple, cassis scented red is tasty solo or with red meats.
