Champagne is the pinnacle amongst sparkling wines, and Veuve Clicquot is one of its most famous exponents. Madame Clicquot took over the estate in 1805 and created the first crystal-clear Champagne. This she did by inventing the technique of riddling – using a specialised rack to enable the yeast to be collected in the neck of the bottle. It was under her guidance that Veuve Clicquot became the Champagne house we know today. La Grande Dame is their finest release – a blend of eight Grands Crus, nearly all Pinot Noir, from a top year. Even more special this vintage, they have partnered with artist Paola Peronetta. Her vision is a range of textured boxes in six pastel colours that only adds to this rich, layered and complex fizz.
