For the last decade Pinot Grigio has been a top favourite grape of white wine drinkers. It's crisp, but gentle and makes for easy, very pleasurable drinking. This is an attractive new white that will wake up tired taste buds. The grapes are harvested from vineyards inland from Venice, where sunshine is plentiful, along with the cooling down draught from the mountain slopes further north. Picking just at the right moment ensures ripe orchard fruits are balanced by a seam of minerality. This white is a great anytime wine, so best to keep a bottle in the fridge door. It slips down easily on its own, but is equally good with lighter dishes. Try with a prawn and avocado salad, creamy fennel risotto or panfried lemon sole with herbs.
