There's nothing but praise for this magnificent 96-point (three times) Cabernet from Margaret River's legendary Vasse Felix. Deep cassis, graphite, chocolatey cedar with integrated oak and supple tannins. "Powerfully ripe and dense, epic" (Halliday).

Dr Thomas Cullity is a legend in wine – the founding father of Margaret River. He was already experimenting with vineyards in 1965, then started proper in 1967, producing a Gold-medal Riesling and Cabernet in 1972 and 1973 respectively. Quality and reputation for this stellar estate have continued to rise over the decades. In 2012 it won Trophies for Wine of the Year, Winery of the Year (again in 2018) and two for Winemaker of the Year, plus 11 Trophies for their flagship Chardonnay, Heytesbury, alone. Cabernet is another speciality (see all the terrific scores for this 2018). Using tiny parcels of Wilyabrup Cabernet with Petit Verdot and Malbec, wild fermented and matured for 18 months in part-new French oak barriques, it's exceptional.

"Powerfully ripe and dense, with epic length of flavour. Capable of decades of graceful evolution" Erin Larkin
