For the last 15 years, Argentina has wowed us with the wonders of Malbec. It adopted this Bordeaux variety and made the grape its own, softening its renowned tannins and bringing out all its appealing supple black fruit and floral aromas. This is a new release from Mendoza's Uco Valley and its top-performing Tupungato. This area has some of the highest, coolest and best-drained vineyards. No wonder this red has a freshness and a finesse. It's made by Diego Sinatra (no relation to the legend) who, before taking over as winemaker at this bodega, worked at some top name wineries – Chandon, Zuccardi and Clos de la Siete. This red slips down a treat on its own, or try with grilled meats, tangy tomato pasta or aubergine and mozzarella bake.

"Mendoza's Uco Valley is a top spot for Malbec. Tupun Catú will seduce you with its silky black fruit" Beth Willard
