Classic Tuscan red from an exceptional estate. Founded in 1984 by Rita and Virgilio Tua with just 2 hectares of vines, it has developed a cult following. Every year, its wines score highly. Pure Sangiovese, it has intense, poised, cherry freshness.
Founders Rita and Virgilio started the Tua Rita property as farmers, but their passion for wine gained the upperhand. Their two-hectare vineyard has grown, nearly 40 years later, to 30 and they have progressed from 'garage' winemakers to a small, gravity-fed cellar, and their wines gain top scores from the world's toughest critics. The property lies in Val di Cornia, between the Tyrrhenian sea and Colline Metallafere, in much-desired Maremma (home to top names Sassicaia and Tignanello). This is their pure Sangiovese from the pebble and clay soils of upper Maremma. With a very light touch of oak, its cherry fruit freshness is to the fore, making it great early drinking, yet it'll keep happily in the cellar too. A great foil for rich pasta.
