Founded in 1883, Trapiche is one of Argentina’s leading wineries. Its many accolades include twice winning ‘Argentine Wine Producer of the Year’ at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. Every year Daniel Pi, one of the most capable and knowledgeable winemakers in Argentina, chooses the three best Malbecs from 90 separate vineyards for Trapiche’s premium Single Vineyard range. Grapes for this wine were hand harvested from Finca Ambrosia’s high (1300 metres) Gualtallary vineyard, then vinified in small vats with natural yeasts and matured for 18 months in new French oak. It’s a remarkable wine – “very perfumed, fresh and harmonious. The texture is just phenomenal,” says Luis Gutiérrez. Open early, decant and serve with roast red meats.
