Since Gascony’s winemakers realised that they could use their grapes to make crisp whites, as well as the Armagnac brandy they’ve for centuries been famous for, good fortune has smiled down. Now the region has a worldwide reputation for dazzling fresh whites. Sauvignon loves the climate here – just taste the grassy fresh notes of this appetising white. You could easily mistake it for a wine from the Loire. This bright 2017 is from a family estate founded in the 13th century – the medieval watch tower still stands proud. Today the family have 60 hectares of vines growing a range of native and international white grapes. Cool fermented, this is a deliciously aromatic white, great anytime – on a picnic, in the garden and with lighter dishes.
