We’ve been working with Bob Berton at various cellars around New South Wales for the last 20 years, and have always been impressed by the wines he produces, as well as by his infectious enthusiasm. So when he decided to go solo in 2006 and invest in a cellar all of his own, we offered to help out with funding – provided of course that we got first dibs on his exciting new range of wines. Here the citrusy flavours of Chardonnay are given a boost of tropical fruit and spice with the addition of a splash of Viognier. A lively, ‘pick me up’ style of wine, it was an obvious candidate to join Bob’s aptly named ‘The Optimist’ range! A great wine to enjoy solo, it’s also an excellent match with creamy white fish, spicy noodles or a vegetable pilau.
