Gerhard Swart isn’t the type of person to let a little drought stop him making the best wine he possibly can. So when faced with the driest Cape vintage in living memory, he set sail on a voyage of discovery to find the juiciest, ripest Pinotage available. The Swashbuckler is a testament to his adventurous efforts. In hot vintages like 2018, vines will naturally produce a lower yield of smaller grapes. This can lead to a more concentrated, fruitier wine in your glass, providing the grapes are picked at the right moment, and treated with the deftest of touches in the winery. As you’ll discover with your very first sip, this Pinotage is beautifully balanced, with bright fruit and a lick of toasty oak. Very tasty with or without food.
