This supple, great value red shows that Argentina produces more than just great Malbec – it excels with Syrah too! The wine is from Zuccardi – a highly awarded, third-generation family cellar founded in the 1960s by Don Alberto Zuccardi. An engineer by trade, he invented an irrigation system then planted a vineyard to show wine estates how it could benefit grape quality. Now Zuccardi is one of Mendoza’s leading cellars: winner of Best Vineyard in South America, Top Value Brand of the Year (three times), a Lifetime Achievement award and a Top Winemaker award for Alberto’s grandson Sebastián. Syrah in this elegant red adds peppery bramble fruit to Malbec’s spicy violet notes. Tasty with chilli, roasts or pasta, or even enjoyed on its own.
