This supple, great value red shows that Argentina produces more than just great Malbec – it excels with Syrah too! The wine is from Zuccardi – a highly awarded, third generation family cellar founded in the 1960s by Don Alberto Zuccardi. An engineer by trade, he invented an irrigation system then planted a vineyard to show wine estates how it could benefit grape quality. Now Zuccardi is one of Mendoza’s leading cellars: winner of Best Vineyard in South America, Top Value Brand of the Year (three times), a Lifetime Achievement award and a Top Winemaker award for Alberto’s grandson Sebastián. Syrah in this elegant red adds peppery bramble fruit to Malbec’s spicy violet notes. Tasty with chilli or beef stir-fry, or even enjoyed solo.
