A superb, silky Pinot Noir with berry complexity from a single vineyard in New Zealand’s Marlborough. Winemaking there is headed up by Eveline Fraser, previously at Cloudy Bay. She knows just how to capture Pinot Noir’s classic fruity aromatic charm.

Pinot Noir has become New Zealand’s signature red wine and this pretty 2017 from Marlborough gives similarly priced Burgundy a real run for its money. Passionate growers Fleur McCree and Hemi Duns were sending fruit to the region’s best wineries just a few years after planting their own vines. When they decided to make wine of their own, they approached Eveline Fraser, former head winemaker at Cloudy Bay. Eveline, upon seeing the pristine vineyards and exceptional fruit, jumped at the chance. True to Burgundian methods, the fermenting wine is plunged thrice a day to extract colour and flavour, then aged in oak for 11 months. The result is a silky, aromatic, red berry filled Pinot Noir to enjoy with seasoned duck or creamy mushroom risotto.

"A real delight. Silky, fragrant – a thoroughly charming Pinot Noir classic" Dan Parrott
