Ripe, spicy Shiraz not from Oz but from South Africa. The work of a fifth generation family estate in Robertson. Winemaker Johan Stemmet has brought out all the juicy blackberry and pepper fruit, while oak lends underlying spice. A warming, rich red.

This blackberry and liquorice scented red is from an estate in world renowned Robertson. It’s named after Jacobus de Wet, founder of the property (in 1859) and great great grandfather of current owner Peter de Wet. Jacobus always had a positive attitude – whenever he encountered a setback, he just picked himself up and started again. His biggest hiccup was ostrich feathers – his thriving business in haute couture collapsed due to the advent of cars and streamlined hats. So he and his son swiftly moved from ostriches to breeding horses (another Robertson speciality) and planting vines. Nowadays not only do the de Wets make great wine, but they also support many community projects. A red to enjoy with a smile and hearty dishes like lasagne.
