For a glass of sunshine filled, ripe fruit, twist open a bottle of Stormy Cape. It's pure Shiraz, but not in the blockbuster style of an Australian. It's an easy going red, with lots of bright cherry, berry fruit and spice, and with no hard edges.

South Africa produces very attractive wines that sit midway in style between the Old World and the New. Lots of lively sunkissed fruit, yet still elegant with that verve of refreshment. So here you'll find all the spicy raspberry and blackberry flavour classic to this grape. Yet it's no heavyweight Barossa, it's much lighter on its feet with a tasty bite of freshness. It's made by a modern cellar in the Cape, and a team that really know how to capture all the fruit with a minimum of tannins. Just enough to lend a little bit of structure. This is a great wine to serve as a glass on its own, you can even chill slightly in summer. It'll also make a pleasing partner with grilled meats, marinaded chicken kebabs or aubergine moussaka bake.
