Stonewall Sauvignon Blanc 9.5 Percent 2018

Marlborough

Dr John Forrest’s 9.5% Vol Stonewall Sauvignon Blanc was groundbreaking two years back and still leads the field. He found a way to ripen grapes while keeping natural sugar levels (and so alcohol) lower. A tropical fruit, gooseberry fresh triumph.

Stonewall comes from one of New Zealand’s finest estates and enjoys a huge fan club in the UK. Owner John Forrest has always been an innovator and his latest success is this 9.5% Vol Sauvignon. It’s a great way to keep alcohol consumption in check without compromising on quality or flavour. John explains: “My aim was to achieve fruit ripeness with lower natural sugar levels and hence reduced final alcohol in the wine. After two years of trials, we succeeded in producing wines, sustainably grown, full in flavour and cost efficient, which met my three key criteria.” Classic, fresh and lingering, this could be the future of Marlborough Sauvignon. A thoroughly refreshing glass solo and partner to seafood, exotic salads or goat’s cheese.
