First it was Stellenbosch, but now Swartland's wines are elbowing their way to the top of the podium. The region boasts both cooler coastal areas and also warmer inland spots. This is a supple, silk textured red made at Spier Estate, one of the first to be established in South Africa in 1692. It's firmly committed to environmental sustainability and the community. Overall head winemaker is the Trophy winning Franz Smit, while the talented Johan Jordaan was in charge of this new red. He works closely with a group of outstanding Swartland winemakers – The Lucky Five – to source great quality Shiraz, Cinsault and Grenache. They share the same values too - treasuring the land, the vines and the people. A top red with roast meats or pasta.

"A gorgeous, rich, new release red from the top Spier winery and the stellar wine region of Swartland" Becca Reeves
