Set in the cool mountains of Greenbrier County, West Virginia, Smooth Ambler was founded in 2009 by two spirit lovers intent on producing the best. Some spirits they distill themselves, while others, like this whiskey in the Old Scout range, are a marriage of barrels. This particular release blends two discoveries – one a nine year old, 36% rye bourbon, the other a five year old whiskey, distilled from a bourbon mash. The first is aged in new oak barrels, the other in revitalised, re-charred, ex-bourbon casks, and both, as you’d expect, lend a lot of character. Awarded 91 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2018, this whiskey offers cinnamon spice, toasted wood, dark coffee and creamy caramel with brighter fruit notes. Savour slowly.

"A blend of two bourbon based whiskeys, aged in new and newly charred barrels, this is a spicy drop" Jehan Sacaze
