Selección Numerada 39 is from a winery that has existed in Navarra for 150 years and now has extensive vineyards in Rioja too. This Crianza has been aged so long in barrel – 18 months in both French and American oak – that it is tasting more like a Reserva. Tempranillo with Cabernet and Garnacha, now with five years of maturity, this red is a real treat. Black and red berry fruit, liquorice, toasty oak and spice – you’ll find this a fine choice with roast lamb or a casserole.
