Rocksand Shiraz (magnum) 2019

Vinho Regional Península de Setúbal

A gorgeous, rich Shiraz that’s not from Oz, but from an award winning estate and winemaker in Portugal. Sandy soils and abundant sunshine make for a big, spicy, powerful red that’s a pleasure to serve, even more so from an impressive magnum.

Not only has this family estate won over 70 Golds in the last 12 years, but it's also won ‘Best Wine in the World’ for their Shiraz in 2008! The secret to this weighty, spice-packed red is the combination of sandy soils, which hold little rain for the vines, and the hot Portuguese sun. The result is a modest yield of tiny berries crammed with flavour. With this style of wine, award-winning winemaker Jaime Quendera is forging a reputation for Setúbal’s rich, bold reds. Mostly Shiraz along with a splash of the local Alicante, Jaime finished the wine in expensive oak barrels to add a spicy, vanilla lift to the blueberry, blackberry and peppery fruit. Pour into large glasses and serve generously with a hearty stew or the Sunday roast.

"Smooth, velvety and generous with rich, dark flavours which linger on the tongue. Send me more!!!" 5-Star Online Review
