For an easy going, elegant red that’s packed with flavour and character, this young, Tempranillo hits the mark, bang on target. You’ll find plenty of ripe, vibrant berry notes and a hint of oaky richness that make it perfect with traditional local dishes. And it has heaps of personality, too. It’s made by brothers David and Victor Manzanos, who learned to make fine Rioja at their father’s knee. Made in the modern, fruit first style, it uses perfectly ripe grapes from the family’s highest vineyards. It’s then treated to a six month nap in French oak, and the same in bottle. From a cracking vintage that’s one of the most successful on record, this tasty Tempranillo is spot on with simple tapas, paella, or vegetable and tofu kebabs.
