This rich Rhône blend is from the premium Barossa Valley and RedHeads' terrific new winery there, which leads the field in sustainability. Alex Trescowthick is winemaker and he sourced the Grenache and Mataro grapes this year from Adrian ‘Hoffy’ Hoffman – a sixth generation grape farmer in the Barossa’s cooler Ebenezer. There his very old vines produce low yields, packed with flavour. That’s true of the Shiraz too, sourced from Matt and Deb Poole and Andy Kalleske. These are all champion growers, with vines in top sites – in this case Koonunga and Ebenezer again. Traditional fermentation, punch down and ageing in new and old French and US oak all contribute to this rich, powerful red. A winner with your Sunday roast and hearty dishes.
