RedHeads 1888 2018

Barossa Valley

First vintage of RedHeads 1888 Barossa Shiraz, using grapes exclusively from the winery’s very own vineyards. It was a stonkingly good vintage too – very dark, intensely flavoured with luscious blackberry, liquorice and vanilla spice from barrel.

It’s 15 years since we started making trailblazing wines in various sheds across the McLaren Vale and Barossa. Finally we’ve put down proper roots, built a new eco-friendly winery from scratch in a top spot in the Barossa and renovated eight hectares of vineyards to the highest spec. 2018 was our first vintage and as our winery wasn’t quite ready (not until February 2019) our main man, Alex Trescowthick, rang a few mates ’til he secured a great bit of kit to make the 2018. This is a whopper of a red, all aged in premium oak for a year before release. We’ve been a bit shy entering this wine into competition, but the team have awards galore – over 100 Golds and four Trophies to boot. Top vintage conditions have produced a powerful, dense red.

"Powerful, ripe red with the structure for some ageing. Blackberry, vanilla, liquorice and spice" Alex Trescowthick
