Founded in 1692, Spier Estate is South Africa’s oldest wine estate. It has many top awards, including IWSC’s SA Producer of the Year 2018, plus prizes for its environmental initiatives and its work within the community. Just in 2021, it appointed a new head winemaker, Johan Jordan, who has worked at the winery since 2007, under the tutelage of renowned Frans Smit. Together they created this magnificent, mature Cabernet and it really shows its class. It's made purely from hand-picked grapes grown on the granite slopes of the Helderberg mountain – some of the best vineyards in Stellenbosch. After 26 months in new French oak barrels, it is showing real depth of black fruit, wrapped in aromatic spice. A regal Cabernet – great with braised beef.
