Chat with Vinny
There’s much to commend this pretty, aromatic, complex red. It’s from one of Burgundy’s best-known family producers, Drouhin, the little known Chalonnaise village of Givry, and an outstanding, albeit challenging vintage. Delicate, silky and scented.

Maison Joseph Drouhin was established 130 years ago and has gained a worldwide reputation for a style that puts elegance and finesse above richness of flavour. In charge today are Joseph’s four grandchildren, Fréderique, Véronique, Philippe and Laurent. Their portfolio extends from Chablis in the north to Givry in the Côte Chalonnaise. Organic and biodynamic viticulture minimise impact on the environment and produce superb quality fruit. The wines of Givry are known as “firm and tasty Pinot Noir, at least on a level with, say, a good Côte de Beaune Villages” (Hugh Johnson). This 2018 is a little riper than the 2017, due to a hot summer, but there's still a good fresh crunch to the ripe fruit. An ideal red with quail or mushroom risotto.
