Quinta do Espírito Santo 2018

Vinho Regional de Lisboa

Enjoy this gorgeous, full flavoured and velvety red from a highly talented Portuguese winemaker, Diogo Sepulveda. So typical of this under-rated country, it not only provides real character, charm and punchy flavour, it represents terrific value too.

Portugal can boast a superb range of unique, quality wines that punch well above their weight for value, too. This rich red is from a grand, family run property near Lisbon, close to the Atlantic coast. Founded in the late 19th century, three generations later it produces some of Portugal’s finest bottles. The winemaker is Diogo Sepulveda, who has worked in Pomerol, Napa and Australia's Barossa. This is a special red for Diogo - he sources grapes from the prized vineyard next to the church, the slope of which ensures fabulous ripeness. Rich, dark and supple, Quinta do Espírito Santo blends native grapes Tinta Roriz and Castelão. With intense blackberry and spicy damson fruit, it makes a tasty glass with roast beef, duck or a rich game stew.
