Antinori broke Tuscany’s rules in the 1970s and started a trend of producing top reds from Bordeaux grapes, many of the best coming from Bolgheri. From ‘new kid on the block’ Meletti Cavallari, this is a fine red with impressive depth and richness.
Tasting notes
Silky, yet with underlying grippy tannins and dense black fruit
Aroma
Dusty red fruits, spice and cedar aromas
More information
Giorgio Meletti Cavallari is a native of the Bolgheri region, living and breathing wine all his life. In 2002, aged 24, he planted a vineyard, then set up his own winery on the property. Today he has 7 hectares of prime vineyard in this prestigious part of the Tuscan Riviera. The grapes for this outstanding red come from his highest vineyards, at 300 metres above sea level with views overlooking the sea. The soil is mineral, marl and schist based, which is reflected in the elegance and complexity of the wine. Crafted from Bordeaux grapes Cabernet and Merlot with a portion of Syrah, this 5-Star red has been barrel matured for nearly a year. Allow the wine to breathe in a decanter an hour before serving with your finest red meat dishes.
