Pensée de Gassac 2019

Pays d'Hérault IGP

Writer Hugh Johnson called the Gassac estate "a Château Lafite Rothschild in Languedoc", while Robert Parker described them as "exceptional." Pensée is an exclusive cuvée for us, with juicy ripe black fruit, herbal hints and a touch of oak.

Since Samuel Guibert returned from seven years' experience winemaking in New Zealand, he has been reinvigorising his family's already exceptional estate with new ideas. His parents Aimé and Véronique founded the property in 1970. Former glovemakers to royalty, they discovered from a friend, the emininent Henry Enjalbert, that they had chosen an amazing site for their vineyards, with the potential to make magnificent Grand Cru style wines. Formed over thousands of years by slowly shifting glaciers, the poor, well drained soils are perfect for vines. History has shown this prognosis to be correct and Gassac is now known as the one true ‘Grand Cru’ of the south. Pensée is real taste of the Languedoc – ripe herbal fruit and a hint of oak.

"Lovely appealing fruit and elegance in this new-release red from this first-class estate" Mark Hoddy
