Pier Paolo Monti founded his estate in 1996, purchasing 10 hectares of vines and building a state of the art winery. Since then, his wines have won many adoring fans and awards, which Paolo and winemaker Roberto Gerbino put down to attentive vineyard management, modern vinification and meticulous maturation. Their Barolos are more voluptuous than the norm - a hedonistic style that may slightly upset the purists but are pure delight. Bussia Riserva is Paolo's finest release, long aged both in barrel (part new) and bottle, before release. 2011 was an outstanding vintage for Piedmont, producing particularly ripe wines. Packed with dark, spiced fruit and fragrant oak, this red is made for well hung game or a rich beef casserole. Decant early.

"Jammed packed with rich, dark fruit, wonderfully expressive sweet spice. A reminder of Christmas" Angus MacClean
