Here’s a glorious Great British gin, born out of grit, determination and a can-do entrepreneurial spirit. It’s crafted on the Chase family farm, using their own King Edward and Lady Claire potatoes, with the fragrant addition of elderflower heads.
Tasting notes
Lovely viscosity, elderflower notes and a panoply of spices
Aroma
Elderflower lift, floral, subtle spice, with juniper notes
After growing potatoes for supermarkets, then establishing the Tyrrells potato crisps empire, farmer entrepreneur William Chase was becoming restless. On a trip to the US he chanced upon a boutique distillery making craft vodka from their home grown potatoes. Inspired by what he saw, he set up the Chase Distillery in Herefordshire. Having successfully launched Chase Vodka, the family turned their attention to gin, using the same raw spirit that goes into the vodka. The botanicals are stuffed into a pillowcase and placed in the still head where the flavours infuse into the vapours passing through. This method and their large combination of aromatic ingredients create a floral, spiced gin. Even more so here, with a beautiful elderflower lift.
