Codru

You may not have even heard of Moldova, but its hilly landscape and Black Sea influenced climate provides ideal conditions for aromatic Sauvignon. That’s why Chain of Stones has such fruit purity, brilliant stony freshness and light tropical fruit.

Our intrepid Buyer Beth first tasted this wine on a recent visit to Moldova and was immediately taken by its combination of intensity and freshness. The wine’s finesse was no surprise – she knew this country has produced fine wine for over 2,000 years, famously supplying the Russian Tsars with wines of regal quality. Moldova’s always had perfect conditions for growing vines. Now this cellar has harnessed all that history and brought wine production into the modern wine world. Not quite like anything from the Loire or New Zealand, this Sauvignon is proudly Moldovan. With bright stone and lemony fruit, it’s perfectly suited to 21st century tastes. Serve chilled as an apéritif or pair with grilled prawns or pan-fried fish, chicken or pork.

"Modern, crisp and pure tasting, lemony Sauvignon – there’s a lot to discover in Moldova!" Beth Willard
