Albastrele Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Codru

This Moldovan Sauvignon surprises and delights in equal measure. Zingy and refreshing but with amazing finesse for the money, it’s a fully fledged customer favourite, reflecting ideal wine growing conditions similar to New Zealand. Citrusy and crisp.

Wine critics may not mention Marlborough and Moldova in the same breath, but thanks to the brilliance of this Sauvignon that might change. Like Marlborough, Codru in Moldova has a long, slow ripening season ideal for Sauvignon Blanc. It’s biting cold winds keep the grapes healthy and mean the vineyards can easily be grown organically. Albastrele is made with hand picked grapes from the Tvarditsa Estate at an award winning cellar equipped for producing whistle clean, modern whites. Over the years, winemaker Vladimir Lazariuc has made us a string of award winning vintages. With its crisp, limey, stony character, Albastrele is truly impressive. It makes an elegant apéritif or a delicious match for grilled white fish or smoked salmon.
