Chat with Vinny
A rare, 6-year-old Crianza from Rioja's neighbour, Navarra. It's pure, old vine Garnacha, harvested from the Pyrenean foothills. There, in view of the snow clad tops, the cool nights lend elegance to this red's ripe raspberry fruit and toasty spice.
Tasting notes
Silky mature berry fruit, toasty oak and spice complexity. Long
Aroma
Mature berry fruit, spice and toasty oak, herbs and a floral hint
This is a mature, complex Crianza from Bodega Sada. The cellar was founded 80 years ago in a tiny village of the same name, Sada, in the Pyrenean foothills (very close to the French border). Exporting abroad is a relatively new thing for Sada, but very appreciated by Spanish red fans – their 2011 Crianza was awarded 95 Points by Decanter and named Best Spanish Grenache! María Eransus is the talented winemaker, who trained with the great Telmo Rodríguez at Remelluri in Rioja, as well as in Chile and Spain's Priorat. She uses 100% old-vine Garnacha to produce this Crianza, aged in barrel for a year. With toasty berry and vanilla spice notes, this is a mellow red to savour on its own or serve with tapas, pulled pork or veggie wraps.
