Marcel Deiss is a domaine with nearly three centuries of history – and one of the most forward-thinking philosophies in Alsace. Present-day custodian Jean-Michel Deiss was one of the earliest advocates of biodynamics in Alsace and considers all his wines to be an expression of the vineyard above all else. Under the direction of Jean-Michel Deiss, the estate’s reputation has grown significantly and all vineyards are farmed using organic and biodynamic methods This is made from the fruit of Pinot Gris vines rooted in the chalky soils of Bergheim and the fossil-rich soil Beblenheim – which gives the wine its minerally freshness “Jean-Michel Deiess is one of those admirable, uncompromising wine producers who really have gone their own way – and succeeded.” Jancis Robinson MW . Aromas of caramel and baked apple. Very lively on the palate with sweet pear and apple flavours balanced by crisper, mineral notes. As one Avery’s customer said of the 2013: “Characterful, beautifully made and worth every penny.”
