Finca Manzanos is the flagship winery of two brothers, David and Victor. They have 200 years of heritage behind them, but still like to blend tradition with modernity. A perfect marriage it seems, judging by this sumptuously aged, 2005 Gran Reserva.

More information
The Manzanos family have been growing grapes for the last 200 years and making wine since the completion of a cellar in 1890. The latest generation, David and Victor, took over the estate from their father over a decade ago and have been making great strides ever since. Right from the start they employed the talented Borja Ripa as winemaker for their flavour filled Riojas, like this classic Gran Reserva. From the standout 2005 vintage, it combines old-vine Tempranillo, with gorgeous Garnacha and local grape Mazuelo. That adds up to gloriously rich layers of flavour from well-ripened fruit with toasty complexity from up to six years in barrel, and 10 years of mellow ageing in bottle. Serve with simple food to enjoy all its flavour.
