Manga del Brujo Repaso Doble Pasta 2011

Calatayud DO

Flying Scotsman Norrel Robertson MW is a Garnacha guru, who adores the wines of Calatayud. This is a very special, limited edition release, with a rare 9 years' age. Using the Doble Pasta method for extra power, this is gorgeously weighty and spiced.

Norrel Robertson is one of a kind. Nicknamed 'the Flying Scotsman', he's made wine all over the world. However, it is Spain that he loves with a passion. He didn't start out as a winemaker, but by the 1990s, had found his true vocation. He passed his Master of Wine exams in 2000, with a top prize. His love for Spain began in 2003. And there he stayed, setting up El Escoces Volante. His first release was Manga del Brujo. From the tiny, low yielding 2011 vintage, from mature, high grown vines, this is a very special release. It's made by the Doble Pasta method, similar to Italy's Ripasso, which means the juice was macerated on the skins of late picked grapes to give extra weight and flavour. Oak aged, it's a serious red to savour slowly.

"It's name means 'Sorcerer's sleeve' and Norrel has certainly pulled this beauty out" Jean-Marc Sauboua
