Luigi e Lucina Pinot Grigio 2019

DOP Friuli

From an exciting, but no frills family winery in Friuli, comes this new release, great value white. It's pure Pinot Grigio grown on vineyards very close the sea. No wonder it has such a lightness of touch with refreshing pear, apple and lemony fruit.

Our good friend, the winemaker Alessandro Gallici, insisted our Buyer Leo dropped buy to see the Anselmi family. They have a winery in Friuli, NE Italy, an area renowned for its crisp, aromatic whites. The family have been making wines there since 1928 and now have extensive vineyards, running almost to the shore, naturally cooled by the breeze from the Adriatic. The clay soils here are ideal for the many native varieties here – Refosco, Friulano, Verduzza, Pignolo, Ribolla Gialla and, of course, Pinot Grigio. And Leo got lucky, scooping up a cancelled order destined for the States. So here it is at a great price too. Named after the original names of Romeo and Juliet, Luigi e Lucina is a refreshing white. Ideal solo or with light dishes.

"Such lovely racy fresh fruit and at a very sensible price. Try this new Pinot Grigio" Leo Bassano
