Rioja and Navarra next door make some of Spain’s finest crisp and fruit filled rosé. Few can beat Los Hermanos for quality and value. It’s from a family estate founded 200 years ago. The fifth generation, brothers Victor and David Manzanos, took over about 10 years ago and have made great strides since. From early on, they brought in winemaker Borja Ripa. He’s as lively, enthusiastic and experimental as they are, having had extensive experience throughout Spain and as far afield as Australia. In this wine Borja has taken Tempranillo and Garnacha, all from Rioja, but declassified. Using only free run juice, the wine is fresh and sappy with lots of lemony berry fruit and a pleasing creamy weight. Brilliant on its own and versatile with food.
