Loose Cannon Bombshell NV

Oxfordshire

Will Laithwaite loves a play on words as much as he loves dreaming up a new beer recipe and so Bombshell – a blonde ale from his Loose Cannon Brewery – tickled him pink on two fronts. Made from only pale hops, this seasonal brew is all citrusy fresh.

From a standing start two years ago, Will Laithwaite’s brewing venture has part filled a void left by the closure of the Morland brewery in 2000. Rather than copying his brother Henry and following in his father’s footsteps around the vineyards of the world, Will set his sights on the beer trade in the once famous brewing town of Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Will, by his own admission, has always been a ‘loose cannon’ and it seemed a catchy name for his business. Bombshell is made with Citra and Challenger hops, its lemon and orange zest aromas strangely reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc. At 4.2% vol it’s not going to blow your head off, but it will certainly lift your spirits and leave you feeling on cloud nine. Now that’s our kind of bombshell.
