Locals were delighted when Will Laithwaite decided to open his new brewing venture in Abingdon. The closure in 2000 of Morland brewery (of Speckled Hen fame) had left a void, which Will has more than amply filled. Will comes from a wine family, but rather than copying his brother Henry and following in his father’s (countless) footsteps around the world's vineyards, Will set his sights on brewing, in Abingdon, in particular. Will, by his own admission, has always been a loose cannon (a name given to him by his rugby chums) and it seemed a catchy name for his business. At a recent Wine Festival in London, Abingdon Bridge was voted by customers the third best wine of the show. No mean feat for any beer! Charge your glasses!
