Credaro is the oldest family-owned winery in Western Australia. Its first vines were planted in 1922 by Cesare Credaro, who emigrated with his brother from Italy in 1921. No mean feat, when the journey was three months by sea. The two worked initially building roads and bridges, but Cesare was also nurturing Fragola vines like they had at home. With these he'd make wine to please family and neighbours. It took another 60 years before the family began anything on a larger scale. Third generation Robert, still at the head of the winery, started supplying grapes to the local wineries. Now helped by his four sons, they make the wines themselves. A Decanter World Wine Awards Trophy shows they're serious about quality. Terrific refreshment.
