Long Live The King Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

New South Wales

This dark, cassis-rich Cabernet is from Bill Calabria's excellent cellar, with whom we've worked for years. He always goes the extra mile to find the best grapes. Originally from the King Valley, now more widely, it's a supple, fruit-laden red.

Long Live the King will bowl you over with its ripe, minty blackcurrant flavour and satisfying grip. It’s the work of Bill Calabria, with whom we’ve been working since 1984. The wine was originally a tribute to Victoria’s magnificent King Valley that in 1995 was under threat from the dreaded phylloxera beetle. Determined winemakers dug in and managed to fight off the pest. Since 2017 Bill has sourced the grapes from a variety of regions, complementing the leaner King Valley fruit with the riper notes of New South Wales’ grapes. The result is a luscious wine, rich with sweet dark berries and plum, classic eucalyptus, plus good grip and length. For now let the wine breathe a little before serving with aged steak or mature farmhouse Cheddar.
