Tasting notes
Zesty and vibrant with pear and melon fruit and refreshing acidity
Aroma
Fresh floral and green fruit aromas with a faint hint of sea air
The Picpoul grape is renowned for its pristine mineral freshness – even in the warmth of the Languedoc in southern France, the only place it is grown. The grapes for this wine come from close to the Etang de Thau, a salt lake not far from the Cap d’Agde and close to the famous oyster beds of Bouzigues. Aired by salty sea breezes, they deliver unmistakable Mediterranean character. The result is a very well balanced wine with lots of ripe fruit and crisp zip. Look out for aromas of white flowers, lime zest, green pear and ripe melon flavours, beautifully balanced by a zesty edge and faintly salty tang. No wonder Picpoul is enjoying a renaissance in wine bars and restaurants both in France and in the UK. A perfect apéritif and seafood white.
