Turn off the television, put on your favourite tunes and relax with a bottle of Les Darons. There are few wines in this price range that are quite so seriously rich, intense and satisfying as Jeff Carrel’s beautifully crafted Languedoc classic.

Beyond the Label
Rich, smooth, complex and characterful with lovely ripeness
One thing the Languedoc does extremely well is Grenache, Carignan and Syrah blends from old, low-yielding vines. The best examples are made by extraordinary winemakers with passion and talent. Jeff Carrel stands out. He calls himself eclectic but when you spend a little time with him tasting and listening, you are left with one overriding impression. The man is devoted to making great wine. Les Darons means ‘the fathers’, a veiled reference to the old, free-standing bush vines that make a pivotal contribution to this wine’s intensity and complexity. Open a bottle when you have time to appreciate it. Its rich, bramble, tar, wild herb and mineral character deserves quiet contemplation. And something hearty of the red meat or veggie kind.
"Gorgeous. Fruity, spicy - completely delicious!"
