More information
Clos Apalta and second wine, Le Petit Clos, come from a special part of the Colchagua Valley. The vines have a north to south exposure, rare for Chile, and a microclimate that’s unique to them. The Tinguiririca river runs down one side, while the hills of the coastal Cordillera form a horseshoe shape around the other. This blocks out sunlight at sunrise and sunset, thereby drawing out the ripening and helping to make these remarkable, intense, long lived wines. Le Petit Clos is made from classic Bordeaux varieties and goes through the same meticulous methods as Clos Apalta. 'Malo' and the first six months ageing takes place in pure new oak, before it spends another 17 months in a mix of new and seasoned barrels. A magnificent red for beef.
