With over 140 awards since 1984 when Tony Laithwaite bought this property, Château La Clarière has proved itself the leading estate of Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux. It’s not only won medals, but has twice been awarded Paris’ coveted Lauréat Prix d’Excellence, the greatest prize of all. Since 2010 the property has acquired some outstanding new vineyards in the village of Sainte Colombe, where it’s new, well equipped winery now stands. This sumptuous white is handcrafted from top quality Sémillon complemented by Sauvignon Blanc. The juice was fermented, then the wine was aged in premium French oak casks for 10 months, with regular lees stirring to lend underlying toasty spice to pinpoint citrus and guava fruit. Open early; serve cool.
