Meet the secret Italian white that’s remained hidden, until now. The shining Sicilian star white, Carricante, is one of the prized grapes of Mount Etna. With barely enough being made for local demand, it’s hardly ever seen in the UK. A shame when it tastes so good – all ripe nectarine and electric citrus. Recently, its reputation has been on the rise with The Times, The Independent, and The Guardian all running articles praising its name. Our buyer for Italy, Leo, went on the hunt and found a small family producer whose Carricante was simply out of this world. We’ve waited 1000 years, now be the first to try this bright, apple crisp white - perfect for a chilled glass in the garden with friends, or with light creamy pasta or fennel risotto.
