Château Montrose may be the youngest Cru Classé of Saint-Estèphe, created from land bordering Château Calon-Ségur at the start of the 19th century, but it's one of its top stars. With beautifully situated vineyards and well-equipped, impeccably clean cellars, it is a modest château, with views over the Gironde. This, their second wine, is made from the grapes of the château’s younger vines, the fruit of which is excellent, but may lack a little of the intensity of the older plots. James Suckling awarded La Dame an impressive 94 points, commenting on its "Very pretty blackcurrants and blueberries with floral undertones, following through to a full body with layers of ripe, polished tannins and a rich, flavorful finish". Will cellar well.
