It's been a very tough year across the world and even Bordeaux's finest estates have some excess stock. Our buyer Jean Marc has contacts throughout the region – he's a popular man – so when there's some terrific wine that needs shifting, he gets to hear first. He was quick off the mark with this gorgeous white – it's a beauty from a 5-star vintage. We can't tell you which illustrious château it's from, but it is First Growth and only three out of five of the First Growths make a white wine – Margaux, Mouton and Haut Brion to narrow the field. It's pure Sauvignon Blanc, picked at the peak of ripeness, with remarkable intensity of lush fruit and creamy weight. A luxurious dinner party white. Chill gently – superb with fine seafood.
